How to play
How to play the KindClue compound word game
Each day KindClue deals twelve English word cards. They hide three groups of four. Every card in a group takes the same missing word, either in front of it or after it.
The rule
- Within a group the missing word goes on the same side of all four cards: always before, or always after.
- The results are words or fixed expressions people already use, such as daybreak, rain check or ever-present. Spaces and hyphens are allowed.
- The letters on the cards never change, and a loose theme (“things that make you happy”) is never enough.
Playing
- Tap or click four cards, then choose Connect. Tap a selected card again to deselect it.
- A correct group shows its missing word and all four expressions. Tap it any time to read what each one means.
- If three of your four cards belong together you will see “One word away”. Two-and-two never counts as close.
- Tries are unlimited, and repeating the same wrong four is not counted twice.
Hints
Each unsolved group has three hints, opened one at a time: a direction to think in, then which side the word goes and one meaning, then the missing word itself with one example. Hints you open are counted in your result.
The wish
When the last group falls into place, the three missing words travel into a short English sentence written for real life: a wish you can copy, save as an image, or send to someone. You can replay the reveal, or skip it. With reduced motion turned on, the wish simply appears.
Every day
There is one puzzle per day, the same for everyone, changing at 00:00 UTC. Your progress and the wishes you collect are saved in your browser on this device.
